Syllabus
Course Description
We will be using the research-based Phongraphix Reading Program. The program teaches students to identify and pronounce the sounds of English correctly, blend sounds together to form words, and segment individual sounds in order to help with spelling and writing. In addition, we will be reading fiction (mainly classics adapted for reading levels) and non-fiction texts as we endeavor to improve comprehension and fluency. Students will be assessed quarterly using the iReady Reading Test and daily through question and answer sessions during our group reading time. We use leveled passages from the Reading A to Z website to assess most reading goals.

Parents -- If you want to work with your student to improve his/her reading skills outside of class, please set up a time to meet with me, and we will go over the lesson presentations you can do with your student at home. Remember, practice, practice, and more practice is the only way to get better at anything.
