Syllabus
Course description
Our math course is tailored to individual IEP goals, so there will be many skills taught, but your student will work on those skills needed at his or her ability level. Your student may or may not get to work on some of the more complex skills, but don't despair, the important thing is that he or she is working toward a goal. During the year we will work on using the four basic functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) with whole numbers then fractions and decimals if appropriate. Students will count out amounts of money and count back change as appropriate. We will also work on purchasing items, writing checks, and balancing a checkbook. Measurement will be another area we cover frequently, measuring length, weight, and capacity with the appropriate tools. Time is another area we'll spend time on (clocks and calendars, mostly). Students will be assessed quarterly using the iReady Math Test online, Finally, whenever possible, we will work on enrichment-type projects to supplement our math skills and allow students to get creative.
